Diversity Fest headliner Joseph Tawadros

Headlining at Diversity Fest Bankstown is Joseph Tawadros, one of the world’s leading Oud players and a performer of acclaimed virtuosity and sensitivity.

Tawadros has appeared in concert halls worldwide, dazzling audiences with his incredible technique, passion and joyous style of performance.

A resident of Australia since 1986, Tawadros has expanded the Oud’s familiarity in mainstream western culture and has been recognised in the Arab world, being invited to the judging panel of the Damascus International Oud competition.

His collaborations have won him three ARIA Awards for Best World Music Album. Egyptian-born, he is the only Australian composer to have his work performed by the Academy of Ancient Music in London and Cambridge.

Tawadros will perform alongside the Poetry Slam on Bankstown campus, Building 20, on September 20 from 7pm.

Bankstown, Tuesday Sep 20: The Street Warriors Indigenous hip hop, at lunchtime outside Building 1 + catering with Halal Snack Packs ! The evening brings Bankstown Poetry Slam and the masterful Joseph Tawadros in Bldg 20 with Koshari catering.

Parramatta, Wednesday Sep 21: At lunchtime enjoy Masha’s Legacy, a sumptuous intercultural melting pot of music and performance + catering by Koshari outside The Hub !

In the afternoon, 3.30pm, catch a highly entertaining panel discussion on religion and sexuality hosted by Bec Mac of Love TV in the Janice Reid Pavilion.

Campbelltown, Thursday Sep 22: Soak up roots reggae trio Declan Kelly and the Rising Sun outside Bldg 2 + catering by Koshari.

Hawkesbury, Friday Sep 23: Catch Mohammed Lelo Arabic Trio at lunchtime + catering by Koshari at Stable Square.

Nirimba, Friday Sep 23: Treat yourself to Marlene Cummins Trio, Australia’s foremost Indigenous female blues performer + gozleme at lunchtime !
